Last week, a startup called Cognition Labs introduced Devin - the world's first fully autonomous software engineer. It's described as a trusted companion that can undertake all types of coding tasks.

It made me me immediately feel "this is it, we're all going to be replaced". But after 7 hours of fire-breathing, a ice bath for 32 minutes and 7 Biscoff cookies*... I started to think what this means for me and for us.

1. Devin is just the start. We're going to have Hanna, the Marketing director. Luca, the HR business partner. Maria, the Sales manager. Charlie, the CFO. Sooner than we think.

2. They're not here to replace us, they're here to give us a head start. To free up time from trivial tasks, so we can focus on the critical ones, that really matter. We're always responsible for the outcome. But we can get to it much faster.

So I decided to see Devin and his future cousins as my friends, my buddies. Yeah, they can replace me one day. That's outside of my control.

But what I can control now is to be curious about them, not fearful or dismissive.
