The "Get a Room" Edition
I believe the next step in all of our AI journey is simple: we need to get people in a room, literally.
It's not about reading articles or watching videos. It's not only getting the best, latest tech or frontiers models. It's about hands-on experience.
Think back to when you first started using Excel. You could have read countless guides, but only after grappling with pivot tables and failing (in my case, 343 times), did you truly start to know about the possibilities and limitations.
The same principle applies to AI. We need everyone, from junior staff to senior leaders, actively using these tools, making it work for them.
I witness this in my workshops in-person. Very busy people stop and use the tools, and the magic happens.
"What is this magic you speak of Marco?"
I'll tell you - people start thinking 'AI-first'. They take on a task and the first reflex is - can I use AI to save me time, so I can do more meaningful work?
And the merit is theirs - because they find the time to do it, they engage with and they PLAY with it.
"But isn't it using AI... cheating Marco?"
Using Excel over a calculator isn't cheating; it's efficient. Or do you feel like using Excel is cheating?
Same will be with AI one day. It is JUST a tool.
"But AI hallucinates and the output is not perfect, Marco"
Humans are not perfect either. And technology is not perfect at its inception,
The more we play with it, the more we see the possibility and are less fearful about the potential outcome
So go on, get them in a room. Laptops open. Choose one tool.
Get them to practice, to prompt, to create, to experiment.
Re-skilling your organisation might be the most important step you take today.
To make everyone ready for a future... that is here already.
See you next week.
