I know, I know - at this time of year I should be sharing with you my AI predictions for 2025.
But not today. I’m going anti-2025.
Because here’s the thing — while we all love a glimpse into the future, there’s a TON of AI magic already at your fingertips. No need to wait for "next year" to see how AI can change the way we leaders work, think, and create.
So instead of "what's next," let me show you what’s now. Here are 4 wonders AI can do for you TODAY, right at the end of 2024.
1. Write Like a Pro (Even If You’re Not One)
We’ve all seen it - Generative AI is revolutionizing how we write, draft, and create content - emails, presentations, posts, you name it.
- What this looks like: Need to write a tricky email to a client? AI can generate a first draft in seconds. Want to turn meeting notes into a polished follow-up? AI can structure it, refine the tone, and highlight key action points.
- Try this TODAY: Pick an email, presentation, or post you’ve been procrastinating on. Ask an AI tool (like Gamma or Claude) to generate the first draft. Then, edit it in your own voice. I promise, you'll be surprised how fast it goes.
2. Master Your Meetings (Instead of Letting Them Master You)
Meetings used to mean juggling notes, action items, and endless follow-ups. But AI meeting assistants (e.g. Otter, Zoom, Co-pilot) make meetings smarter, more efficient, and less soul-crushing.
- What this looks like: AI can join your meetings, transcribe every word, summarize the key points, and even suggest follow-up actions. Imagine walking out of a meeting and having the summary, key decisions, and next steps emailed to you 5 minutes later. Instead of spending 30 minutes summarizing it yourself.
- Try this TODAY: Next time you have a Zoom or Teams call, use an AI meeting assistant to transcribe and summarize it. The first time you see a fully automated meeting summary, you’ll wonder how you ever survived without it.
3. Get a Research Wingman (Without Hiring a Team)
Research used to mean digging through articles, reports, and 20 open tabs. But today, AI can condense knowledge for you in minutes.
- What this looks like: Ask AI to summarize a market report, analyze trends, or highlight the main themes in a 50-page document. Want to understand "What are the key industry trends in healthcare for 2024?" AI can scan the information, filter the noise, and present key takeaways.
- Try this TODAY: Have an article, PDF, or report you’ve been avoiding because it's “too long to read”? Upload it to an AI tool and ask it for a 3-sentence summary. You can even turn it into a podcast with Notebook LLM from Google.
Helping Your Kids with Homework Using AI
If you’re helping your child with homework, AI can be your teaching assistant. Here’s one way you can use it today:
Example: Explaining Complex Topics in Simple Language
- What this looks like: Your child is struggling to understand "How photosynthesis works." Instead of diving into dense textbooks, you can ask AI to "Explain photosynthesis to a 10-year-old" or "Break down photosynthesis in simple steps with an example." AI will generate a kid-friendly explanation with simple words, step-by-step instructions, and even analogies they can relate to.
- Try this TODAY: Use ChatGPT or Perplexity AI to ask it to "Explain [topic] for a 4th grader" and see how clear and simple the results are.
Why I'm not talking about "What's coming?"
Look, I get it. It’s fun to dream about what’s coming in 2025. But here’s a fact we know to be true: AI is already here, and it’s wildly underutilized.
If you wait for the "next big thing," you’ll miss the magic happening right in front of you. These tools aren’t just for tech folks or early adopters.
They’re for everyone. Today. Right now.
So instead of asking "What’s coming in 2025?" maybe ask: "What can I do with AI right now that will make me 2x faster this week?"
A BIG thank you to the 5000+ of you that receive my newsletter weekly.
You keep me going. And this time I'll say... I'll see you next year!
